Update on that deck job in Springfield with the composite versus cedar debate

The homeowner was set on cedar for the look, but after showing them a sample of TimberTech composite I had left over from a job three years ago, they changed their mind. The cedar would have needed staining every other year in that sun, but the composite just needs a soap and water wash. Has anyone else had a client fight you on material choice only to thank you later?

Honestly, showing them a sample that's already weathered a few years is the best move. Tbh I keep a beat up piece of composite in my truck for this exact fight. It's one thing to tell them it holds up, but letting them feel it and see the color hasn't faded wins every time. Had a guy last year who was sure he wanted pressure treated, now he brags to his neighbors about never having to seal it.

But that sample in your truck could just be a lucky piece.
