Wasted $300 on a fancy dovetail jig that barely worked out of the box

Picked up one of those higher end dovetail jigs from a big box store thinking it would save me time on a custom drawer set I was building for a client in Seattle. Spent two whole afternoons fighting with the alignment guides and the clamps kept slipping, ended up with a pile of wasted walnut that cost me another $60. The cheap template I borrowed from a buddy later worked way better on the first try. Anyone else got burned by an overhyped tool that looked good on the shelf?

lol sounds like you bought the same "pro grade" jig I fell for last year. That thing had more plastic parts than a kids toy and the instructions might as well have been in ancient Greek. I swear these companies just slap a fancy price tag on junk and hope nobody returns it. The clamps on mine stripped out after like ten uses and I ended up going back to my grandpas old hand router jig that works perfectly fine. Honestly 300 bucks for a paperweight that eats walnut for breakfast is a special kind of rage. At least your buddy hooked you up with the cheap one that actually works those are always the real hidden gems.

Try returning it. Some stores are surprisingly chill about that.
