Customer said my seams were invisible, then pointed out every one

Had a homeowner last month who watched me do a bedroom in Shawnee, Kansas. I was pretty proud of the seams, thought they were tight as could be. She walked the room and said "they're not bad, but I can see all eight of them from this angle." Told me I needed to back-roll the seam areas with a nap roller before tucking, to lay the pile down flat. Tried it on the next job in Overland Park, and man, what a difference. Anyone else had a client who actually taught you something useful like that?

Funny how the ones who can't do the work sometimes see it clearest. Had a similar thing with a painter in Leawood who pointed out my corner cuts looked fine up close but washed out from across the room. She showed me how to feather the paint out wider instead of keeping a tight line. Felt dumb at first, but now I check every seam from the doorway before I call it done. That client's tip probably saved me from a hundred callbacks since. Sometimes the homeowner's eye is the best tool you didn't know you had.
