Fought a seam roller for 3 hours before I noticed the handle was loose.
The roller kept slipping every pass, thought the carpet was the problem after re-stretching three rooms in a rental house on Elm Street, anyone else waste a whole afternoon on a dumb tool issue?

That "fought a seam roller for 3 hours" part really hit home. But I think you might be mixing up a seam roller with a carpet stretcher or power stretcher. A seam roller is just that little spiked hand tool you roll down the tape after you glue the seams, not something you'd use for stretching a whole room. The loose handle on a seam roller would drive you crazy on seams, but it wouldn't cause slipping on a full stretch job. You probably had a loose handle on your carpet kicker or power stretcher, which is a much bigger problem when you're trying to push carpet into place. Different tools for different steps, but they'll both waste your whole afternoon if the handle comes loose.

Wait, @pat_park, so you're saying a loose handle on a kicker is way worse than on a seam roller? Isn't that the whole reason you'd even notice a loose handle in the first place?
