Had to pick between tack strip and glue down on a 1970s slab in Reno, went with glue and lost my shirt
Six months back I bid a 1,400 sq ft job in Reno with old carpet glued straight to concrete, and the homeowner wanted it back the same way to save money. I went glue down with a cheap pressure sensitive adhesive because the tack strip would have meant patching 30 feet of crumbling slab edge, and it peeled up along the slider within 60 days. Anybody got a brand of adhesive that actually holds on a slab that old, or do I just eat the tack strip patch next time?
