I finally got that weird ripple out of a hallway carpet after two whole days
Had a job in a split-level house where the hallway had a slight slope I didn't catch at first. Put down the pad and carpet like normal, but this one long ripple just wouldn't stretch out. Tbh, I had to pull up a whole 15-foot section, re-set the tack strip on the high side, and power stretch it three separate times from different angles. Honestly, what should have been a 4-hour install turned into a 16-hour nightmare over Monday and Tuesday. Anyone got a good trick for spotting those sneaky floor slopes before you start laying pad?

Oh man, that's the worst! My buddy had a similar thing happen on a job where the floor dipped toward an old fireplace. He swears by using a long level and checking in multiple spots now, even on hallways that look flat. Saved him a ton of headache on the next one.

How long of a level does he use for that?
