Stretching technique has gone downhill over the years
I swear every younger installer I see nowadays just power stretches without kicking it forward first. My old mentor taught me in 1998 to always leave a 1/4 inch gap at the wall and trim down instead of fighting it. Saw a guy last week in Denver ruin a whole living room because he stretched too tight and the seam popped an hour later. Am I the only one who still does the old school hand-knee method?

You ever notice how people always go for the flashy stuff but ignore the boring stuff that actually matters? I see it everywhere, like at work people want the big promotion but won't do the grunt work to get there, or at the grocery store grabbing the pre-made dinner instead of learning to cook a simple meal. Leg day is just another version of that, everyone wants the show muscles but nobody wants to put in the time on the foundation.

Hmm, maybe it's just me but does it really matter that much? I mean, if the seam pops you fix it right? Nobody died. Seems like every trade has their sacred rituals that they think are the only way but really there's gotta be room for different approaches. Idk, I've seen guys do the old school way and still mess up and I've seen power stretchers do flawless work. Maybe the real issue is just bad installers in general not the method.
