That cheap seam iron cost me $180 on a hotel job
Picked up a budget seam iron off Amazon, figured it'd be fine for the basic stuff. Took it to a hotel install in Reno last month, 40 yards of commercial carpet. The thing overheated twice, melted the backing on three seams before I caught it. Had to rip out and redo a whole hallway, plus buy a better iron same day from a local supplier. Lost the afternoon and the profit on that room. Now I stick to the brand my supplier carries, even if it costs double. Anyone else get burned by cheap tools on a big job?
