That time I had to stretch a 15-foot roll into a 16-foot room

I was in a condo in Tampa, and the homeowner insisted the carpet would fit because the box said 15 feet. When we unrolled it, we were short by a full foot on the main wall. I had to get creative with the power stretcher, using every bit of tension I could without tearing the backing. We made it work, but the seam is right in the doorway now. Has anyone else had a client bring their own material that was just plain wrong for the job?

Been there, done that, got the backache. Clients bringing their own stuff is always a gamble. I've had to make some truly cursed seams work just to avoid a total redo.

Read a blog post calling this the "bring your own disaster" trend.
