TIL carpet pad density ratings are basically meaningless on the box

Pulled a 8lb pad out of a 700 dollar job yesterday and the label said 'high density' but it squished flat under my knee in 2 seconds. Dug around and found the actual ASTM D-3676 spec online, turns out they can print whatever they want if it has a foam core. Anyone else weigh their rolls before trusting the print?

I saw a flooring guy on YouTube say he brings a kitchen scale to the store and weighs the sample cuts. Said the 8lb rolls he's tested lately come in closer to 5 or 6. Wild that they can just slap a label on it and call it a day.
