Goes even further than that if you get the cheap hand held one from harbor freight, the steam wand gets under the tack strip glue too and the wood strip pops right up with a flat bar. Just keep the head moving or you will soak the plywood subfloor and then you are waiting two days for it to dry before you can lay anything new. I did my whole upstairs this way last spring, padding came up in these big soggy rolls instead of a million little chunks. Only warning is it gets real humid in the room fast so crack a window or you will be sweating like crazy by the second bedroom. Way better than a scraper and a prayer for your knuckles though.
