Walked into a custom home yesterday and the carpet job was a total hack job

Went to check out a new build in Phoenix on my way home and the homeowner had some buddies install the carpet in the master bedroom. They left seams right in the middle of the doorway and the padding is shifting underfoot already. Has anyone else had to deal with fixing botched DIY jobs for clients who thought they'd save a buck?

Man come on, is a seam in a doorway and some shifting padding really that big of a deal? I've seen way worse in rentals that people paid top dollar for and they didn't freak out this bad. It's new carpet, you can fix the padding and hide that seam with a rug if it bothers you that much.

Oh I totally disagree with you @blake_smith, you can't just throw a rug over bad work and call it a day. That seam in a doorway is a tripping hazard waiting to happen (especially if you've got kids or elderly folks around). And the shifting padding is a sign they didn't take the time to do it right, which means it'll keep getting worse over time. You pay for new carpet expecting it to look new, not like a DIY job someone rushed through. Maybe you're okay with settling for sloppy work, but most people aren't paying premium prices for something they have to fix themselves. It's not about "freaking out," it's about wanting what you paid for.
