A lot of people think book bans are just old history. They're not.

I was looking up info on a graphic novel I read last year, 'Gender Queer' by Maia Kobabe, and saw it was the most challenged book in US libraries for 2023. People keep saying censorship is something that happens 'over there,' but it's happening in school districts here right now. I know because my local library had a whole public meeting about pulling it from the teen section last fall. Has your town dealt with a challenge like this recently?

People get really worked up about this stuff, but it's just a few books moving shelves. Most parents just want a say in what their kids check out from the school library. It's not like the books are being burned.

Moving a few shelves is how they start before they start burning them.

Seriously, it's just moving some books around.
