Banned books section at my local library was literally just one sad shelf, took me 45 minutes to find anything good
I figured it would be a whole display but it was tucked behind the reference desk, and half the 'banned' books were just Twilight because some parent complained in 2008. Has anyone else found their library's censorship section is way smaller than you'd expect?

Twilight being on there is sending me tbh. My library's banned book section was literally just a tiny cart labeled 'frequently challenged' with like three copies of Captain Underpants and a dog eared Harry Potter. Took me forever to find anything that felt actually controversial, ended up grabbing a copy of Maus that someone had wedged behind a DVD display. Kinda funny how the stuff that actually gets challenged is usually just whatever one angry parent had a problem with that year. Really drives home how small scale most censorship is at the ground level, no matter how loud it gets online.

honestly? the whole "banned books" thing feels overblown a lot of the time. one angry parent doesn't mean there's a censorship crisis, sometimes it's just a library making space for popular complaints.
