Spent $45 on a 'banned book' box that was just a bunch of public domain classics with edgy covers

That reminds me of the time a friend got a "mystery vinyl" subscription. Three months in a row it was just represses of Thriller with different colored plastic. The whole point is you're supposed to get something obscure. Felt like such a scam for what they charged.

Oh man, for real? Different colored Thriller represses? That's almost impressive in its own lazy way. Like they couldn't even cycle through different popular albums, they just picked one and decided the color of the plastic counted as variety. Maybe the subscription was actually a test to see how many months you'd put up with it before canceling. I'm picturing the warehouse just having a giant bin of mystery vinyls that are all just MJ staring at you with different backgrounds.

My buddy got a "curated" coffee subscription that sent the same generic dark roast every month. They just slapped a different fictional artisan name on the bag each time. The whole business model seems to be repackaging boredom as a premium experience.
