That time my high school in Austin banned 'The Bluest Eye' without telling anyone
I went to check out Toni Morrison's novel for a book report junior year and the librarian said it was 'unavailable'. Found out later a parent complained and the principal pulled it from shelves in 2019 without any vote or notice. Does removing a book quietly count as censorship or just a bad call?

That "unavailable" thing is definitely censorship. I read somewhere that the American Library Association tracked like 500+ book ban attempts in 2022 alone, and Morrison's books come up a lot. Doing it quietly without telling anyone just makes it worse, since nobody even got a chance to push back or talk about it.

@hugo236 nailed it, same thing happened at my kid's school library with a different author last year.
