TIL my town's library quietly pulled 'Maus' from the graphic novel section

I saw the empty space on the shelf during a visit yesterday, and the librarian just shrugged when I asked about it. Has your local library ever removed a book without any notice?

What happens when they pull a book but don't tell anyone? It just makes people more curious and they find it online anyway. So the quiet removal backfires completely.

Exactly, it creates this underground buzz. Suddenly everyone's asking "what was so bad they had to hide it?" and sharing links in DMs. It basically turns a regular book into forbidden fruit, which guarantees way more people will seek it out than if they'd just left it on the shelf.
