TIL that censoring a book actually made me want to read it more
My high school banned "The Hate U Give" back in 2018, so I snuck a copy from the library and read it in three days. Now I'm wondering if bans just create more curiosity in kids, has anyone else had that happen?

Three days? That's insane. You must have been glued to that thing. I get the curiosity angle but damn, banning something just turns it into forbidden fruit. Kids are gonna find a way regardless.

Man, that's wild. My buddy Kevin did the same thing with "Fahrenheit 451" in high school. The school board tried to pull it from the curriculum so he literally stole a copy from the library and read it under his desk during class. He said it felt like a mission, like he was in the book itself. Finished it in two days then passed it around to like five other kids. That book became the most talked about thing that semester.
