Tried to buy a copy of Persepolis in Jacksonville and the clerk asked if I was a teacher
I went to a bookstore near Jacksonville two weekends ago looking for a copy of Persepolis because my niece wanted it for a school project. The clerk said they didn't have it and when I asked if they could order it, she got quiet and said it had been pulled from their system. I pushed a little and she admitted that a few graphic novels had been flagged by a district list and the store just stopped stocking them to avoid hassle. I ended up ordering it from an indie shop in Portland for $19 plus shipping and it showed up in 4 days with no problem. But it got me wondering how many stores quietly do this without anyone noticing. Has anyone else run into a store that just stops carrying something instead of making a big deal about it?
