Using a banned novel's quote in a presentation got me in hot water
I was putting together a slide deck for a big client meeting. I included a passage from a book I admire, 'The Satanic Verses' by Salman Rushdie, which is banned in many countries. My manager pulled me aside and said we couldn't use it because our client operates in some of those places. Had to redo the whole section last minute. It got me thinking about how global businesses deal with censorship. Have you run into similar issues with books or films in your role? What's the protocol at your company?

Did you check if the ban applies to quotes in business settings?

Look at how much people are overthinking this. Are the business quote police really going to kick in your door? Most places just want to get work done and won't sweat the small stuff. It feels like making a huge deal over something that hardly ever comes up. I seriously doubt it's that big of a problem in the real world.

Right? Feels like people get stuck on rules that don't matter much day to day.
