Vent: My book club's 'banned books' night in Austin went totally sideways

We all agreed to read 'The Satanic Verses' by Salman Rushdie, but I guess the local coffee shop we met at didn't get the memo. The manager saw the cover and asked us to leave, saying it was 'causing a stir' with other customers. We ended up having our discussion in a parking lot for two hours. Has anyone else had a public place freak out over a book's title before even knowing what it's about?

Ha, right? I was the same way. Took me way too long to admit I was wrong about it. Now I'm fully converted, like some kind of late-stage fanboy with regret. My ego just doesn't like being wrong, but this one bit me hard.
