When my school library pulled 'Where the Wild Things Are' for being too scary (really?)
I found out last Tuesday that the elementary school down the street banned Sendak's book because a parent complained it might give kids nightmares. I used to read it to my nephew back in 2019 before bed, and he loved roaring like a monster. Now the school has it locked in a closet with 6 other 'questionable' picture books including one about a friendly ghost. Has anyone else seen schools overreact to classic children's books like this?

Tbh I get why some parents worry but banning "Where the Wild Things Are" feels a bit much. That book is practically a rite of passage for kids figuring out big feelings.
