A mod on a hiking forum told me my trail review got auto blocked for one word, and they were right
I posted a trip report last Tuesday about a washed out bridge on the Eagle Creek trail near Cascade Locks, and it vanished the second I hit submit. A mod messaged me and said the word 'kill' in my sentence about the poison oak set off their filter, so my whole post got held. I swapped it for 'really bad rash' and it went up fine, which was weird but also kind of funny. Now I grab screenshots of the blank page every time it happens, and I've got 6 of them saved. Has anyone else had a post eaten by one random word like that?
Word filters are wild bc they never know what context is. Somebody on a fishing sub got their whole report nuked bc they wrote about "hooking" a big bass and the filter thought it was about something else entirely. Another guy couldn't post his bird pics bc the species name had a bad word hiding inside it. What kills me is the mods always act like the filter is doing you a favor, when really it's just lazy coding that can't tell a snake from a slur. Half the time the banned word isn't even the problem, it's some innocent word that happens to sit next to another word the bot hates.
