Can we talk about trying to save a burnt pan with baking soda

I left a stainless steel pan on high heat for maybe 3 minutes last Tuesday and the bottom turned completely black. I tried the baking soda and water boil trick I saw online (you know, the one everyone swears by) and it lifted maybe half the burn. The rest was still baked on and I ended up scrubbing for 45 minutes with bar keepers friend to get it clean. Has anyone else dealt with a burn that won't budge with the usual methods?

The baking soda trick is way overhyped for heavy burns like that. Letting a paste sit overnight isn't going to do much more than what you already tried since it still needs heat and abrasion to really work. Bar keepers friend is honestly the better bet from the start for those tough spots, even if it takes some elbow grease.

Did you try letting the baking soda paste sit on it overnight before scrubbing?
