Found out the hard way that fish goes bad faster than you think

I was prepping for Saturday dinner service at my line cook gig and noticed the sea bass smelled a bit off, so I checked the temp-it was 45 degrees, not 38 like I thought. Turns out our walk-in cooler has a dead spot near the back that I never knew about, and I lost 8 pounds of fish worth about 70 bucks. Has anyone else had a cooler surprise like this that cost you money?

Count your blessings it wasn't a whole paychecks worth of tenderloin like my brother lost.

Oh no way, a whole paycheck? That's wild. I mean steak is expensive but dang, that's a whole different level of bad luck. Did he at least get a discount or something? That would make me so mad I'd probably never shop there again lol.
