Had to pick between poly rope and wire brush for heavy creosote this week
Got a call from a house in Brighton with a chimney that hadn't been swept in like 6 years. I always used wire brushes before but heard poly rope was better for hard glaze. Tried the poly rope on the first pass and it actually chewed through the crust way faster than I expected. Did the whole job in like 45 minutes vs the usual hour and a half. Anyone else switched over and noticed a big difference?

Tossed a chainsaw chain in the mix once - sliced through glaze like butter.

Oh man, that's rough! I've had similar kitchen disasters where I tried to get creative with tools and it just went sideways. One time I thought I could sharpen my knife on a belt sander and ended up with a blade that looked like a jagged mess. Another time I used a wire brush to clean a cast iron skillet and scratched it all up. These moments make you feel like such a dummy but hey, at least you were trying to think outside the box. Hope the chainsaw chain didn't ruin your whole batch or mess up your gear too bad.
