I just logged my 100th creosote removal this season

I keep a simple tally in my work log, and hitting that number yesterday really made me pause. It means I've pulled over 400 pounds of that nasty stuff out of chimneys in the last six months. The last one was a bad level three buildup in a 1970s ranch house, about 40 pounds alone. That volume of work shows how many folks are burning wood without proper maintenance. Has anyone else seen a jump in these heavy cleanouts compared to last year?

That 40 pound cleanout is a serious chunk. I'm seeing more of those older brick chimneys with zero lining that just cake up fast. Are you finding most of your heavy jobs are in houses built before a certain year, or is it more about the type of stove they're using?

Disagree with you there, Harper. The worst build-ups I see are in newer, airtight stoves burning unseasoned wood, not just old chimneys. That 1970s ranch was an exception for me this year. What type of wood are your clients usually burning?
