Just flushed $300 on a cheap rotary brush kit for tough creosote

Bought one of those spinny brush kits from Amazon thinking it'd save me time on heavy buildup, but the cable snapped on the second job and nearly took out my arm. Anyone else had bad luck with those flimsy knockoff systems?

Friend of mine, Dave, bought one of those kits last fall. He was trying to clean out his chimney at the rental property he owns, and the thing just threw a fit about halfway down. The cable started binding up and then just snapped right at the motor housing, which made a godawful noise and sent him stumbling backward. He ended up having to call a real sweep to come fish the broken brush out of the flue, which cost him another $200 on top of what he already paid for the junk kit. He still has the broken pieces sitting in his garage as a reminder to never cheap out on that kind of gear again.

That's a rough lesson to learn the hard way... sorry about your friend's luck.
