Just wasted 3 hours on a masonry chimney that had a hidden liner crack

Thought I was done in 45 minutes but the smoke test showed a tiny leak behind the firebox that took forever to find and patch. Anyone else run into hidden liner issues that ate up way more time than they bargained for?
