Rant: That 'quick dry' creosote remover spray cost me $80 and a whole afternoon
Bought a gallon of 'SootAway Pro' spray from a supply house in Akron, thinking it would cut my cleaning time in half. It just made a sticky, smelly mess that took me three extra hours to scrub out with a wire brush. Has anyone else tried a chemical cleaner that totally backfired on a brick flue?

Man, that's the whole story of modern life right there. We keep buying the "quick fix" stuff that just makes a bigger mess. It's like those magic erasers that just smear dirt around, or the "one coat" paint that needs three. The promise is always easier, but you end up working harder to fix what the shortcut broke.

Ugh, that's the worst. Makes me wonder if some of those sprays are really meant for factory metal chimneys, not old brick flues. The brick just soaks it up and turns into a gummy nightmare. I'd almost rather just chip away at the old fashioned crust.
