Rant: Wasted $350 on a cheap rotary brush kit for my chimney cleaning

I bought this budget rotary brush set off Amazon last month for 350 bucks thinking I was saving money. Took it out on a job in Portland and the thing snapped on the second use. The rods bent and the brush head came right off inside a flue. Had to spend an extra 2 hours fishing the pieces out with a magnet tool. Total waste of time and money, plus the customer looked at me like I was an amateur. Anyone else had bad luck with those cheap kits or am I just unlucky?

Heard the same story from my buddy Dave (runs a crew over in Beaverton). His snapped on the third job and sent a brush head flying down someone's flue. Made him look like a total hack in front of the homeowner.

Was he using the right brush size for his rods? Heard some guys try to cram a 7 inch brush on 6 inch rods and it torques everything sideways. Did Dave say if his brush was flexing at the connection point or the rods themselves?
