Spent 3 years brushing from the top down before a guy in Boise asked why I wasn't going bottom up
I was on a job in Boise last month and the homeowner, a retired sweep named Marv, watched me work and asked why I start at the top of the flue. I said that's how I learned it. He said the creosote just falls back onto the brush and you miss the bottom third. I tried it his way on the next job and pulled out way more gunk from the lower section. Anyone else get taught one way and find out later it was backwards?
