What kind of buildup were you dealing with that made the poly brush work so much better? I've got a 10x10 lined flue that gets a lot of creosote plates, and my steel brush just skates over them sometimes.

Hold up, I gotta disagree @tessa_kelly. I tried a poly brush on a similar 12x12 and it didn't do squat compared to my steel one on the hard creosote plates.
