Switched from spin brushes to a chain flail for 3 months, never going back

I was fighting crusted creosote in a rental property near Portland for weeks. Spin brush would smooth it out but chunks kept falling behind the smoke shelf. Bought a cheap chain flail setup from a supply house for $180 and ran it on the same flue last Tuesday. Took one pass, knocked everything down in 20 minutes, and the homeowner said they never saw the flue that clean. Has anyone else made the switch and had to adjust their rod speed or angle for tight turns?

Man, that chain flail sounds like a beast. My first time trying one, I got so excited I wound up whipping myself in the arm with it, looked like I lost a fight with a weed eater. Took me a few tries to get the speed right too, had to slow way down on those tight bends or it would just bounce off the brick. But yeah, once you find that sweet spot, it's honestly night and day compared to the spin brush. I still keep the old brush around for the light stuff, but for anything with real buildup, I'm grabbing the flail every single time now.
