That one flue took me four hours to sweep clean
I kept thinking I was done, but every time I ran the brush through, more soot and crust came tumbling down. Turned out the previous owner had used some kind of sticky liner that was peeling off in layers. Has anyone else dealt with a liner that just won't quit giving you debris?

Get yourself a shop vac with a brush attachment and run it after each pass with the brush. That sticky liner stuff is a nightmare, it peels off in chunks and just keeps coming if you don't vacuum it out right away. Took me three weekends with my own chimney before I finally got it all out using that method.

Right? That liner crud is the worst, I ended up using the same trick and it saved my sanity too.
