Vent: That $600 HEPA vac I bought barely lasted a season
Two years ago I dropped $600 on a high-end HEPA vacuum from a well-known brand thinking it would handle all the fine ash and dust from my sweeps. After about 8 months the motor started making a grinding noise, and now it barely pulls any air. I sent it back to the manufacturer for a quote, and they wanted $300 just for the motor replacement. Has anyone found a shop vac that can really take the daily abuse of chimney work?

Yeah I used to think expensive vacs were worth it too. Not anymore after my $500 one died in 6 months.

Oh man that's so frustrating! Something similar happened to me with a fancy toaster oven I bought last year. It was supposed to be this premium thing with convection and all sorts of settings and it just died on me after like 4 months. The worst part was they wanted me to pay shipping to send it back for repairs which was almost as much as a new one. I swear sometimes you're just paying for the brand name and not for something that actually lasts.
