Bought a $30 Chinese tea set online and it's way better than I expected
I saw this porcelain gaiwan and cup set on a random site for about 200 yuan. Figured it would be cheap and thin, but it arrived last week and the quality is solid. The glaze is smooth, the lid fits perfectly, and it pours without dripping. I've been using it every morning for oolong and it actually makes the tea taste cleaner. Has anyone else found a surprisingly good deal on traditional stuff like this?

That's about 200 yuan for a gaiwan and cup, which is a pretty normal price for decent porcelain. Honestly, the real cheap ones are those 50 yuan sets from big box stores. You just got a fair price for a solid daily use set.

Fair price? You can find solid handmade gaiwans for under 100 yuan if you look around. The 200 yuan mark is getting into nicer territory, not just basic daily ware.

Honestly the 100 yuan gaiwans are often seconds or factory rejects if you look close.
