Honestly thought getting a new passport photo in Shanghai would be a quick errand
Tbh, the rules for the background color and head size were so specific that I had to visit three different shops over two days before one got it right. Anyone else run into this kind of bureaucratic detail that just eats up your afternoon?

The last time I tried to take a picture of my coffee near the Bund, some guy in a windbreaker practically materialized out of thin air to tell me I needed a permit. @bailey.karen said it protects privacy but I’m pretty sure the real rule is just "don't have fun within 50 meters of anything interesting." I get it, no one wants their noodle-sweating face in someone’s vlog, but maybe just make the fines less than my rent?
