I finally get why people swear by WeChat Pay over Alipay in smaller shops

Ran into a problem at a corner tea shop in Chengdu where my Alipay QR code wouldn't scan and the owner just pointed at her WeChat code. Took me 15 minutes to download and set it up while she waited, but now I see why everyone here has that green icon front and center.

the convenience is a total game changer, seriously. once you have it set up, you can just scan a QR code instead of fumbling with cash or cards at the counter. i'd suggest going into the app and turning on the security stuff right away like the face ID lock so nobody can use it if your phone gets lost. also, make sure you link it to a card with the right currency conversion rates, otherwise you might get hit with hidden fees. little stuff like that makes a big difference when you're actually using it day to day.
