I finally visited the Terra-cotta Warriors in Xi'an and it changed how I shop for souvenirs
Standing in Pit 1 last month, I watched a vendor sell tiny replica warriors for 50 yuan while tourists snapped them up without haggling. Now I always walk three blocks away from any major site before buying anything. Has anyone else noticed the price drop once you get off the main tourist path?

Funny you mention that. My wife and I found a little shop about four blocks south of the Bell Tower in Xi'an that sold the exact same warriors for 15 yuan each. The vendor even threw in a free keychain when we bought a set of six. It really pays to wander away from the crowds. Now whenever I travel, I make a point of exploring the side streets before I buy anything. You get better prices and the whole experience feels more genuine.

@robin489 totally agree, found the same kind of shop in Marrakech doing that.
