Just realized my favorite dumpling spot in Xi'an uses frozen wrappers from a factory
I saw the delivery truck unloading boxes labeled 'Dumpling Star' when I walked by the back alley last Tuesday and now I'm rethinking every meal I've had there, has anyone else found out their go-to local joint cuts corners like this?

Honestly this is everywhere now and it's kind of depressing. I swear half the "handmade" places in my city are just reheating frozen stuff from the same few distributors. Ngl it makes you wonder what's actually worth paying for anymore when the markups are huge but the effort isn't there.

Right? It's getting to the point where even the "local" bakeries with those fancy paper bags are just microwaving Sysco muffins and charging $6 for them. Honestly can't trust anything unless you literally watch them make it in front of you.
