My WeChat translation trick saved me $50 on a Shenzhen street buy

I was in Huaqiangbei last month browsing phone cases and the vendor was pushing this 'premium' tempered glass for 80 yuan. I pulled out WeChat, snapped a pic of the package with the translate feature, and it literally said 'basic model 5 yuan wholesale' in tiny print. I showed the guy my phone and he just laughed and dropped the price to 15 yuan. Has anyone else found a cheap tool or app that cuts through the tourist pricing in Chinese markets?

Did @the_jason actually say the 80 yuan was normal lol? I got a buddy who tried that WeChat translate trick but his phone was on silent and the lady thought he was filming her for some drama - she chased him half a block before he showed her the screen.
