PSA: That cheap 'jade' bangle you're eyeing on the street in Beijing is almost always dyed quartz
I watched a seller in Beijing's Panjiayuan market swear up and down that a bangle was real Hetian jade, then a guy from my hostel pulled out a small UV light and the whole thing lit up purple because it was treated stone. If anyone tries to rush you with a story about an old family piece, walk away and come back later, they'll still have it. Has anyone here actually found a trustworthy shop that lets you test before you buy?
