Unpopular take: I actually enjoyed my trip to the Shenzhen factory town more than Shanghai

Everyone told me Shenzhen was just concrete and smog, but I spent 3 days in the Nanshan district last month and it totally surprised me. The mix of old fishing villages next to these giant tech buildings was really cool to see up close. I found a tiny noodle shop run by a 70 year old lady who made the best hand pulled noodles I've ever had for just 12 yuan. Has anyone else given Shenzhen a real chance or am I the only one who thinks it's underrated?

Man I keep telling people this and they look at me like I'm trying to sell them a timeshare there. My friends said I'd hate it and I ended up spending most of my trip eating in random alleyways.
