Warning: Bought a $60 'authentic' Chinese tea set from a tourist shop in Kunming and it was just cheap porcelain

I thought I was getting a real handmade Yixing clay set for a steal. Got home and the cup cracked when I poured hot water in it. The shop guy even did the whole spiel about generations of craftsmanship. Lost 60 bucks but learned my lesson. Anyone else get scammed at those tourist trap shops?

Did the shop guy also tell you it was a family heirloom that belonged to his great grandmother? Because I got that line too before my "Yixing" pot started flaking paint into my tea. Mine wasn't even good enough to crack, it just started leaking from a pinhole on the second steep.

Come on now @morgan316, are you sure you're not making a mountain out of a molehill? A little flaking paint and a pinhole leak hardly ruins a cup of tea, it still serves its purpose.
