6 months to finally get my landlord on board with solar panels
I moved into my apartment in Portland back in March and thought adding solar to the shared roof would be a straightforward chat with the property manager. Nope. Took me until September just to get a yes, and that was after three written proposals, two building inspections, and one angry email from a neighbor who thought panels would ruin her view. The kicker was the landlord wanted a guarantee on maintenance costs, so I had to draft a simple cost split agreement myself with numbers from the local utility's net metering program. We finally signed last week, and the install is scheduled for November, but I'm curious how long it took for other renters or condo owners to get any kind of climate upgrade approved. Has anyone else dealt with a landlord who needed that much convincing?
