A neighbor's comment changed how I compost entirely
Ngl, I used to toss citrus peels and onion skins straight into my backyard bin without thinking. Last fall, a neighbor named Rosa watched me dump a grapefruit rind in and said, 'you know that throws off the worms, right?' I looked it up and she was right, acidic stuff was slowing down the whole pile. Now I keep a separate bucket for citrus and only add it in small amounts with extra cardboard. Has anyone else gotten a tip from a random neighbor that totally shifted their routine?

Have you tried putting those citrus peels through a blender with water first? I started doing that after a neighbor down the street mentioned it, and it breaks them down so much faster... the worms seem to handle the mush way better than whole chunks. She also told me to bury them deep instead of leaving them on top, which cut down on fruit flies a ton. It's funny how one little chat can save you months of trial and error.
