Changed my mind about electric cars after a weekend rental in Denver

I always thought they were just for rich people and a hassle to charge. But the rental place gave me a full battery and I drove over 200 miles without stopping for gas once, which saved me about $40. Has anyone else had a good experience with a normal electric car, not a fancy one?

Checked the charger map before leaving and had a backup spot just in case.

My brother rented a Chevy Bolt in Phoenix last summer and got stranded when the only fast charger in town was broken. He had to get a tow truck to a regular charger and wait three hours. That $40 you saved would have been gone in the tow fee alone. The charging network is just not reliable enough outside big cities for me to trust it on a trip.

Honestly I used to think the fear was overblown. But hearing stuff like this makes me rethink road trips in an EV. The map might say there's a charger but if it's busted you're just stuck.
