Hot take: I thought composting was overrated until 6 months of filling one bin in my backyard proved me wrong
I used to roll my eyes at people who made composting sound like some kind of climate fix, mostly because I figured my little bin wouldn't move the needle next to big industry stuff. Then I weighed my kitchen scraps for a month in my garage here in Tucson and it came out to 31 pounds, which is waste that would've sat in a landfill making methane. Now I'm stuck arguing with myself, is home composting worth the smell and the fruit flies, or should we all just push cities to do it at scale? What actually got you to start, or what made you give up on it?
