My neighbor the retiree changed my mind on solar panels

Old Mr. Henderson two doors down told me his roof solar paid for itself in 4 years and 3 months. Based on his electric bills he showed me on his phone, I'm now seriously looking into getting quotes for my own house. Anyone else have a neighbor who convinced them to switch something up?

Mr. Henderson across the street showed me his bills from last summer and I was honestly shocked. I always thought solar was a scam or took way too long to pay off but his numbers were pretty clear. He said his system was around $14,000 after the tax credit and it saved him about $3,200 a year on electricity. That math works out way faster than I ever expected for a regular house.

$3,200 a year saved on a $14k system. So like four and a half years to break even and then free electricity after that. That's honestly way better than most people think isn't it. I always figured solar panels took like 15 years to pay off but Mr. Henderson is out here living the dream with free AC while the rest of us are sweating over our utility bills lol.
